Things To Do In Monaghan
Castle Leslie Estate
County Monaghan’s vibrant landscape is full of gentle hills, glistening lakes and small idyllic market towns, like Glaslough where Castle Leslie Estate is located. The county is well known as the birthplace of the poet Patrick Kavanagh and the images evoked by his poems and prose relate to rural life at its best, run at a slow pace.
The newly refurbished Kavanagh Centre (Opened at the end of 2019) tells the story of Inniskeen’s most famous son – the poet, Patrick Kavanagh using immersive and interactive techniques to inspire visitors. There are 6 key zones in the exhibition and these focus on different times and aspects of Kavanagh’s life. A multi-media experience provides the emotional core of the exhibition with its visuals and sound effects and this is also used as a performance space for concerts and dramas.
Other activities include; Biking, Hiking, Walking and Heritage Trails, Swimming, Kayaking, Canoeing, Coarse and Game Angling, Zip Lining, Museums, Rally School Ireland, Quad Biking, Bowling, Pottery, Gin Distillery and Tasting, Cookery Classes, Three Arts and Theatre Centres and a Cinema.
