Castle Leslie Estate is proud to support Project Children and their ‘Move to Monaghan” Peace Campus Initiative.

Project Children have announced their ‘Move to Monaghan” Peace Campus Initiative. Fifty years on from the inception of this iconic program, they are pleased to report that the history, records, memorabilia, and stories of Project Children will be archived and housed at the newly constructed Monaghan Peace Campus in Monaghan, Ireland. An opportunity for the world and for future generations to learn of the commitment made to over 23,000 children of Northern Ireland, who were brought to the US for a 6 week summer respite from the sectarian violence that engulfed their communities during “The Troubles”. The Project Children archive will serve as a reservoir of wisdom, poised to enlighten and guide communities grappling with the most entrenched conflicts.

Castle Leslie Estate is proud to support this initiative, and as one of their deluxe sponsors so that they we can continue to execute their civic and social responsibility for generations to come. Castle Leslie Estate’s support will greatly impact to showcase Project Children worldwide and to create a new must-see attraction in the border region for thousands of international visitors.

It will also help in

  • Ensuring the protection, preservation and perpetuation of the charity’s 50 year legacy by establishing a permanent archive in the new Monaghan Peace Campus, which will educate and inspire future generations on the importance of peace not only on our island but across the world.
  • Reviving the Project Children Picnic with a special one-time event and 5k to raise awareness about the “Move to Monaghan”.
  • Fostering the promotion of informational community events including screenings of the documentary, “How to Defuse a Bomb: The Project Children Story”, that showcases interviews from former US President, Bill Clinton, former Senator George Mitchell and former Senator Joe Crowley.
