Pottery Classes
LOCAL AREA
Pottery Classes are held at Busy Bee Ceramics which is run by Brenda McGinn and located in Glaslough Village, a 5 minute walk from The Lodge at Castle Leslie Estate. Brenda and her team have a shop and also provide onsite pottery classes for individuals and groups. They make all the pottery themselves including the pottery you are painting which makes it a truly Irish product.
You can browse through their collection of handmade pottery which is available to purchase in the shop. Choose from collectibles such as keyrings, coasters, mugs and cereal bowls (these are used in Snaffles Restaurant and the Castle Dining Room for our breakfast service), to remember your trip to Glaslough. In addition, you can purchase their products on their website; www.busybeeceramics.ie
When you visit the pottery studio you get to become a potter and learn something brand new! It’s a great way to spend a day with family and friends.

About Brenda McGinn
Brenda opened the doors to her first pottery students in December 2009 and continues to teach all ages and abilities at her studio in Glaslough, Co. Monaghan. Brenda studied at the University of Belfast doing Fine Art and clay stole her heart in her second year. Clay has a way of connecting people and it literally becomes a way of life. Most of Brenda’s days are spent around people, teaching or loading and unloading kilns and thinking up new designs, glazes and ideas.
She firmly believes that each of us has creativity within us and even people who have never tried it before are amazed at the fired pots they get back!
She often thinks that clay is very like people in its temperament – it doesn’t like to be rushed, it doesn’t like stress (or it will crack) and it certainly doesn’t like being overworked or it will collapse (much like people).
Clay can also teach us alot about ourselves. It helps us to stay in the moment and learn how to live on the edge, pushing boundaries instead of playing it safe.
