This Sunday 10th October is World Mental Health Day. St Patrick’s Mental Health Services has organised a ‘Walk in My Shoes’ and are inviting people nationwide to put on their “brightest, finest funky shoes and step out into nature to walk for your wellbeing”. Getting outdoors is not only good for our physical health, but helps to clear our minds, be present and mindful, and notice the lovely natural world around us. Whether it’s a stroll in your local park, a favourite scenic walk, or even a hike, getting outside is a great way to ease the stresses of everyday life.
We feel blessed to be located on 1,000 acres of beautiful Irish countryside and we always like to encourage our guests to explore our Estate on foot and take in the abundance of stunning scenery that surrounds us. October is an especially good month to get out in nature at Castle Leslie Estate. With the leaves changing from green to red, we have plenty of outdoor space for our guests to enjoy that includes our secluded grass lands, lake views and woodlands.
With several walks mapped out, all of which contain wonderful sights, Castle Leslie Estate has something for everyone. Wander throughout the Estate grounds or around the village of Glaslough. Rossmore Forest Park and Lough Muckno Forest Park are within easy driving distance of Castle Leslie Estate, providing a variety of walks for people of all abilities.
You can join in the fun of the day by sharing photos of your funky shoes and wellbeing walks using the hashtag #WIMSLive via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, bringing the power of positivity to light on the day via social media.
